What junk removal companies won't take, and what to do with it
Most household junk can go on the truck. A short list of items cannot, because they are dangerous or need special handling. Here is what to set aside before your pickup.
Items we cannot haul
We cannot haul hazardous materials. In general that means:
- Paint, stains, solvents and thinners
- Pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals
- Asbestos or materials suspected to contain it
- Medical waste and sharps
- Propane tanks and other pressurized containers
- Gasoline, oil and other fuels
If you are not sure about an item, ask us before the visit. A quick photo of the label usually settles it.
Items that need extra care
Some things are not hazardous but have special disposal rules, and their handling can affect the price or what we can accept. Examples are batteries, tires, televisions and other electronics, and large appliances. Tell us about them when you call so the quote is right.
What to do with the items we cannot take
- Check your city's website. Many North Texas cities run household hazardous waste collection or drop-off programs. The rules and hours differ by city.
- Keep the original labels. Collection sites often ask what is in a container.
- Never mix chemicals or pour them down a drain or onto the ground.
- Use up or give away usable paint and cleaners if you can, and store them safely until then.
Why it matters
Hazardous items can hurt the crew, damage equipment and cause environmental problems at the disposal site. A company that tells you plainly what it will not take is protecting you as well as itself.
What we do haul
Furniture, mattresses, appliances, yard debris, construction debris, and the full contents of garages, homes and storage units. See our full list of services, or call or text for a quote.
